Volunteer Opportunities

Circle of Friends offers volunteer opportunities in both Community Programming and Community Outreach.

Promoting mental health through creative activities strengthens the confidence and socialization of people suffering from mental illness. We offer classes in drawing, painting, animating, writing, drama, photography, and music at various locations in the Seattle area. Our programs provide not only instruction in creative arts, but more importantly, build relationships with a community that is too often isolated and stigmatized. Through our interaction as teachers and students, we all benefit from the liberating activities of artistic expression. Our partners work with individuals from all ages and backgrounds and are free of charge to the participants to help them in their recovery and self-healing

Community Programs Volunteer

Facilitate a weekly, 1-2 hour art class such as drama, music, painting, creative writing/poetry, movement, photography, pottery, guitar, etc. (Also keep in mind that we are continuously looking to incorporate new forms of expression!) If you are passionate about a particular medium and want to share it with us? We are happy to support new programs!

As a Community Programs Leader, you will be leading or co-leading a weekly session at one of our community partner's facilities or at spaces located around King Count. You will be required to develop simple lesson plans for community programming and to track the number of participants that engage in the class. Not to worry…You will have the support of the Circle of Friends staff, a site coordinator and a co-leader if you desire.
